Angelique Dancel is a Toronto-based, first-generation Filipina-Canadian singer-songwriter and dancer. Blending neo-soul, alternative pop, and R&B, her music is defined by warm vocals and emotionally reflective songwriting. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Olivia Dean, Eloise, and Lianne La Havas, Angelique crafts a sound that balances vulnerability and strength, pairing soulful melodies with introspective lyricism that resonates with listeners seeking honesty and connection.
With a background in dance, Angelique approaches music through both sound and movement, viewing performance as a fully embodied form of storytelling. This foundation informs her creative process, allowing her to translate emotion not only through lyrics and melody but through movement. Her multidisciplinary approach integrates visual storytelling and movement to create immersive experiences that extend beyond traditional live performance.
Angelique has been steadily building her presence within Toronto’s emerging music scene through self-produced shows, intimate venue performances, and community-driven collaborations. In 2025, she performed 14 live shows, cultivating a reputation for emotionally engaging, thoughtfully curated performances.
Her momentum continues into 2026, where she will perform at her first music festival, NXNE. With music available across all streaming platforms, Angelique continues to expand her artistic identity through new releases and creative projects. Guided by a desire to be the Filipina representation she once longed for, she remains committed to creating work that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
